Chris Hudson on Beale Street

Heard this guy on Beale the other night at Pat O's in Memphis, TN playing piano. Sings great. His vocal range was as wide as his song styles. The night I was there, Chris got requests for everything from Frank Sinatra to Def Lepoard, from Kenny Chesney to Phantom of the Opera. All the young kids were having so much fun, and the music they love most is a little older...about as old a me! I was so surprised when I saw young kids taking requests up to Chris and I anxiously awaited to see what they had asked for. It was always some old song that I grew up with like "Georgia on my Mind" or "Build me up Buttercup". I have no idea where those kids ever even heard of those songs.

Chris grew up in NC and lived in Vegas for a while working in all those casinos. Must have been a wild time in his life. But I think it really must have taught him alot about entertaining and getting the audience involved in the music. Fun time for everyone that night.
